Luna County Film Office

Luna County has a rich history of involvement in the entertainment industry, with local films stretching back to 1953’s, “The Tall Texan.” Our beautiful landscape, unique history, friendly community, and cooperative local agencies make Luna County, Deming, and the Village of Columbus ideal locations for film and media projects.

We have plenty of hotel rooms, great weather, a municipal airport capable of handling small passenger jets and positioning on Interstate 10 and a variety of state highways (including the shortcut to Albuquerque if you’re coming from the west), and the only 24-hour Land Port of Entry to Mexico in New Mexico.

For more information about the area or the state’s lucrative incentives for film and media productions, please contact them. The Luna County Film Office can serve as your eyes and ears on the ground and act as a middleman to make contact with property owners, other government agencies, and businesses needed to help make your artistic vision a reality. Film permits are only $25.00. Click here for the film permit application.

The Film Office is operated by the Greater Luna County Economic Opportunity Council in collaboration with Luna County as we realize film and media productions are valuable for the area’s economic development and cultural heritage.

Deming’s historic downtown district — dating back to the late 1800s — could serve as the backdrop for a period piece, and Luna County’s diverse desert landscapes and rugged Florida Mountains can act as a double for the Middle East or a throwback to the wild west. Remnants of a once vibrant mining industry and a current thriving agricultural industry can add flavor to productions. Luna County has the genuine old-west look and feel and is open for your business!
